"I've always been mad, I know Ive been mad, Like most of us have.
They have to explain why you are mad... even if you are not mad..."

Popped it in for old times sake. Had forgotten about the voices in my head segment.

Ahhhh... good times

from what I can remember of them anyway.

interview

Elance provider and graphic artist Jon Tucker (link to: bear_myth.elance.com) discovered Elance in June of this year, and despite the current state of the economy, he successfully launched his design company – Alabama Design Studios (A.D.S.).

What’s his secret? It’s simple, Jon provides his clients with a combination of high quality work and frequent communication.

Frustrated with his full-time office job, Jon decided he needed a change. “Between childcare, gas, car expenses and other miscellaneous costs - I was spending about $25,000 dollars a year to keep my full-time office job,” Jon said. “I knew that if I could find a way to work for myself from home, I would eliminate a large amount of my expenses – and as a plus – get to spend more time at home with my children.”

Jon spent five months researching ways to market his graphic design and photo editing skills online. “I came across Elance during my research and it was clear that of all of the competition, Elance was the most user-friendly, and had the largest number of projects,” Jon said. “So, I signed up with Elance and I haven't been disappointed yet.”

Today, Jon and his business partner work hard to bring in business and keep their company growing. Jon works online primarily through Elance, from Houston, while his partner focuses on local business in Alabama.

“My primary goal is to build relationships with clients who want work done on a regular basis. Every day, I look at all of the design projects listed and focus my attention on the photo editing jobs from strong potential clients who seem to want to build a relationship.”

Using Elance, Jon has completed 22 projects in the last six months, keeping a 100% feedback score. He keeps his clients satisfied by giving them a combination of frequent communication and high quality service.

“I compete on customer service and quality – not on price, as my bids are rarely the cheapest,” Jon explained. “After the first few pieces of communication, my clients are confident that I will successfully complete their projects in the required time frame. That is one of the reasons my clients keep coming back to me.”

“Thanks to Elance, I have the opportunity to connect with people from all over the world who need my skills. My dream of self-employment has come true. And because of the breadth and depth of the companies who come to Elance with their projects, I have so many opportunities to market myself. Elance has made A.D.S. a global company.”

“Though the economy may be unstable, Elance has helped me connect with individuals and company’s out there who are hiring, and need a photo edited by a professional like me.”

An eZine/blog wants to interview me

Apparently its unusual for someone to get so many positive reviews so quickly, they want to find out how I'm doing it.

All of my current clients and potential clients will get to read this. So... its potentially great advertising, unless I fuck it up. Then its just bad.

Here's to me not making an ass out of myself...

Why I love what I do.

Just for fun I thought I'd share a couple of tidbits.

A while back I was talking to one of my clients. She's a photographer in England. Cardiff to be specific. I recently did an edit for her, as always I did exactly what she asked for. But, this time I also added another option that took about 15 years off of the subject. She ended up loving it, but it was a week after I'd finished the initial job.

She says to me "Would it be too cheeky of me to ask you to go back and do your magic on her?"

First off no one has ever used the word "cheeky" in a sentence with me before. But add in that Welsh accent and on top of it and, no, it wasn't nearly too "Cheeky". A novel experience for me all round. Bonus points for use of the word "cheeky". I still get a giggle out of the use of "Cheeky".

Then there is the other end of the spectrum.

The Friday before Ike hit I emailed all of my clients. (a short but steadily growing list, thankyou very much) I told everyone that I was bugging out, but I expected to be back up and running in a few days. (little did I know) One of my clients sends me an email just before I shut down to dismantle my computer. "Be careful! I know how bad those things can get. And by the way, I just put some work on your FTP site for you. Would it be too much trouble to take care of it before you evacuate?"

Ummm no, I wont risk taking my kids into a 20 hour traffic jam so I can do your stuff. I emailed him when I got power back 10-ish days later and told him I'd missed his email, but I'd get right on his stuff. But I can do that sort of thing, cause I own the business. wheee! And he is still one of my best customers.

Why I didn't do this years ago?

Frame of mind

Yesterday was not a great day... Work Stress.

I was sitting outside watching my birds eat (yes, I have birds, they make me smile) when I saw a pretty little yellow butterfly zigging in and out of a gauntlet of terror as one bird after another swooped down on it. Yellow made it to the bushes where a tiny little finch was waiting and in one snap put an end to yellows flight and life.

Yesterday I felt like the butterfly.

Today I'm in a different frame of mind. I was thinking about the butterfly incident again when I realized that yesterday was a pretty good day for the little finch. All it had to do was be in the right place at the right time to get a decent snack.

Life is all about frame of mind.

Description: Countless paladins and saints have ascended here. Notable Inhabitants: Angels and Devas.

Examples of Lawful-Goods (Ethically Lawful, Morally Good)

Aeris "Aerith" Gainsborough (FFVII)
Superman
The Tick ("Lawful Stupid")
Abraham Lincoln
Sherlock Holmes
Phileas Fogg
Captain Picard

A person with a lawful good attitude believes in the use of authority and rule of law to bring good to the greatest number of people. Her/His actions support the status quo and s/he uses systems and organizations to achieve good goals.

S/He will keep his/her word and value truth.
S/He will avoid the use of poison and use violence only when authorized to do so or in self defense.
S/He may or may not be disciplined, organized, emotionally restrained, caring, compassionate, and peaceful, but s/he believes that these are admirable qualities.
Respects law and order and is willing to suffer limitations on individual freedom for the benefit of the group.
Puts moral principles before material considerations.
The lawful good person will be a very faithful member of a group, but if the laws of the group clash with the ethics dictated by his or her moral alignment, the lawful good person will probably leave that group and look for a group more closely aligned with his or her ethics.
The lawful good person is an active advocate of his or her beliefs.

Lawful Good "Saintly"
"Crusader"

A lawful good [person] upholds society and its laws, believing that these laws are created to work for the good and prosperity of all. He is both honest and benevolent. He will work within the established system to change it for the better, and strives to bring order to goodness that other good-aligned [people] might pool their resources to better the world. A lawful good [person] combines a commitment to oppose evil with discipline. Most lawful good [people] live by a strict code of honor, or by the rules of conduct set down by their deity. They will generally selflessly act by these codes even at the cost of their own life.

Lawful good combines honor and compassion for the innocent.

A knight/paladin who always follows the orders of his superiors is an example of a lawful good [person].

Other Alignments and Tendencies (Tendenices are what you would more often sway towards; esp. for Neutrals):
0-39% Good, 0-39% Chaotic: Lawful-Evil
0-39% Good, 40-60% Chaotic: Neutral-Evil
0-39% Good, 61-100% Chaotic: Chaotic-Evil
40-60% Good, 0-39% Chaotic: Lawful-Neutral
40-60% Good, 40-60% Chaotic: True Neutral
40-60% Good, 61-100% Chaotic: Chaotic-Neutral
61-100% Good, 40-60% Chaotic: Neutral-Good
61-100% Good, 61-100% Chaotic: Chaotic-Good</i>

Link: The Alignment Test written by xan81 on OkCupid Free Online Dating, home of the The Dating Persona Test

There is a lot of aggression and violence
too.

The Emperor naturally follows the Empress. Like an infant, he is filled with enthuiasm, energy, aggression. He is direct, guileless and all too often irresistible. Unfortunately, like a baby he can also be a tyrant. Impatient, demanding, controlling. In the best of circumstances, he signifies the leader that everyone wants to follow, sitting on a throne that indicates the solid foundation of an Empire he created, loves and rules with intelligence and enthusiasm. But that throne can also be a trap, a responsibility that has the Emperor feeling restless, bored and discontent.

What Tarot Card are You?
Take the Test to Find Out.

Yesterday I was behind a Semi. On its mud flaps in GIANT BOLD RED letters was the phrase "ONLY JESUS SAVES" and my first thought was "hmmm, I wonder what bank he uses?" Followed quickly by the notion that a mud flap jesus is almost the tackiest religious iconography Id ever seen.
